About 7
years ago, my dear friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. I felt helpless as she endured the numerous
treatments and wanted to make a difference in her journey. I decided to make pink ribbon bracelets to
sell to raise money for a local charity in honor of her journey. My goal was to sell 20 bracelets and raise
around $100. I couldn’t imagine the
support I would receive and over the next 4 years, I sold hundreds of bracelets
and was able to raise over $8000 for that charity.
During
the fundraising process, I was asked to repair jewelry as well as design custom
pieces. Once I started, I realized how
much I enjoyed making jewelry and decided to start “Cathy’s Corner”. I started selling to friends and family and
then at crafts sales. No I have opened
a store on Etsy (see link on the right) where you can purchase my jewelry and
accessories.
My
charity and fundraising efforts have changed a little over the years. I currently design and make jewelry for a
local ovarian cancer support group which they sell to raise funds for their
organization. As well, I have adopted a
family in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and raise money every year to help them.
